He is currently a professor of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, China. He is also a IEEE Senior Member, Vice Chair of Beijing Chapter of IEEE Control System Society, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence, Standing Council Member of the Chinese Association of Automation, Council Member of the Chinese Association of System Simulation, Chair of the Robotic Competition Committee of Chinese Association of Automation, Vice Chair and General Secretary of Intelligent Automation Society of the Chinese Association of Automation, Guest Professors of the Shanghai University, Chongqin University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Engineering, Huazhong Normal University and Luoyang Polytechnic, Editors for Journal of Automation, Journal of Control Theory and Applications, Journal of System Simulation, Journal of Robotics and Machine Intelligence and Robotic Control(in Japan)，Advisory Member of KIEE International Trans. on System and Control(in Korea).

He is the author or co-author of over 200 papers and the author of seven books on intelligent control and robotics. His current research interests include intelligent control, robotics, fuzzy systems, neural networks and evolution computing etc.
