His current research
interests are in engineering and technology education
with an emphasis upon interactive technological
environments, project based learning, robotics,
mathematical modelling and visualization.
Dr. Verner studies the use of robotics as an educational
tool to teach principles of spatial motion and manipulation,
the effect of practice with robots on development
of spatial imagery and better understanding of physics
concepts. He has been involved in educational evaluation
of international robot competitions and conducted
survey studies of the robot soccer competitions
RoboCup 1997-1999 and FIRA 1998-1999. Since 1999
he has served an advisory committee member of the
Trinity College Fire Fighting Robot Contest (Hartford,
CT), conducted contest surveys and case studies
of robot projects in high school.
He has published more than 25 journal papers and
30 conference papers in engineering and education
areas.
Dr. Verner is a recipient of the Technion Teaching
Awards in 1996, 1999, and 2002, the Technion Academic
