Dr. Baltes worked from
1996 to 2002 as Senior Lecturer in the Computer
Science Department of the University of Auckland,
New Zealand. During this time, Dr. Baltes became
interested in robotics and started working on intelligent
mobile
robots. In 2002, Dr. Baltes moved from the University
of Auckland to the Department of Computer Science
at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.
Dr. Baltes and his students have competed in many
robotic competitions. Currently, his research interests
are machine learning applied to computer vision
for mobile robots, path planning, and humanoid robotics.
