Jong-Hwan Kim received his B.S.,
M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics Engineering
from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea,
in 1981, 1983, and 1987, respectively.
From 1984 to 1988, he was a Research Assistant
in the Department of Electronics Engineering at
Seoul National University. Since 1988, he has
been with the Department of Electrical Engineering
at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and
Technology (KAIST), where he is currently a Professor.
He was a Visiting Scholar at Purdue University
from September 1992 to August 1993. His research
interests are in the areas of Evolutionary Multi-agent
Robotic Systems. He has published more than 200
International Journal/Conference papers.
He is the Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions
on Evolutionary Computation, and of the International
Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems, and
was a Member of the Editorial Board of the Korea
Fuzzy and Intelligent Systems society. He is one
of the co-founders of Asia-Pacific Conference
on Simulated Evolution and Learning (SEAL) and
was the Organizing Chair and the Program Co-chair
of SEAL'96 and the Program Co-chair of SEAL’98.
He is the General Chair of the IEEE Congress on
Evolutionary Computation’2001.
His name is included in Marquis' "Who's Who
in the World", in its ’98, ’99 and 2000 editions
as the Founder of MiroSot (Micro-Robot World Cup
Soccer Tournament) and of the FIRA (Federation
of International Robot-soccer Association). He
is now serving FIRA as Executive President. He
was the Guest Editor of the special issue on MiroSot'96
of the Journal of Robotics and Autonomous Systems
and of the special issue on Soccer Robotics of
the Journal of Intelligent Automation and Soft
Computing.
He is a member of IEEE, KITE, KIEE, KCAS, a research
member of CIET, and a research member of ERC-ACI.
Dr. Kim is the recipient of the 1988 Choongang
Young Investigator Award from Choongang Memorial
Foundation, the LG YonAm Foundation Research Fellowship
in 1992 and the Korean Presidential Award in 1997.
